The interactive Maryland Broadband Map allows residential and business consumers
to discover the high-speed Internet services and providers in their neighborhood,
anywhere in Maryland.
What is broadband, and why does it matter to you?
Broadband, also known as high-speed internet access, provides two-way data transmission
to and from the Internet with advertised speeds of at least 768 kilobits per second
(kbps) downstream(download) and at least 200 kbps upstream(upload).
High quality, reliable broadband service at your home or business offers you access
to a wide range of resources, services, and products that can enhance your life
and productivity in a variety of ways.
Who created the Maryland Broadband Map?
A working partnership that includes the Maryland Broadband Cooperative, Salisbury
University, Towson University, and the Maryland Department of Business and Economic
Development gathers the data and created the Maryland Broadband Map. The partnership
is sanctioned by Maryland Governor Martin O’Malley. Maryland’s State Geographic
Information Officer is an active participant.
